From this introduction to Management module, I
expected to learn how to manage a group of people, how to lead them in a
project. In this 12 weeks or 1 semester of learning Introduction of Management
module, I have learned about what management and manager is about, the history
of the evolution of management, types of the business environment, how to
planning the goals in the organization, how to become a good leadership, how to
motivate employees, how to fulfill their needs, the steps of decision making
and etc.
About this Introduction to Management module, I felt
that I need to more understand about the theories especially when doing the
individual assignment, online quiz and group assignment. Because these
assignments and quiz are related to the real life which means that I need to
apply the theories that I had learned in the tutorial class and lecture hall.
When I am doing the individual in which is the case
study with the topic case that stated in the textbook. From 5 of them, I chose
the Chapter 2: Case Application 1 ‘Out of Control‘. In this study case, it
talked about the Toyota Coorperation. By doing this project I can understand
more about the organization culture and types of the culture in each
organization.
But when I am doing the online quiz that only have
15 minutes for around 20 questions is not enough time for me as I do not really
study about the topic that the questions talked about as the result, I only got
60% for the quiz and 16 over 20 for my individual assignment. Sometimes I felt
unfair with online quiz question. Because when I do it by myself I only got
lower grade and got difficult questions but when I helped my friends, they got
higher grades than me with the questions that are easier than me.
In the group assignment, I did not find any
difficulty to contact with my group members. I am really enjoy working together
with them because they have good personality to help each other when I face a
difficulty to do with the assignment. In the tutorial class also they always
cheer me up even though I did not ask them to do it and also by doing this
group assignment, I can get more knowledge about management by looking or
searching some references that are related to the group assignment that my team
mates and I have worked on it.
This module and all the theories that I have learned
are important in the working life because with these theories I can practice
and apply them in my job later. It is different when I face the real situation
and do not face it. If I face the real situation, I can know what should I do
or which step should I take in order to achieve the company’s goals and also in
order to make a decision that can give an impact to the whole department in the
organization or company that I work at.
